Rose Coconut Ladoos
A classic combination of rose and coconut made in the form of laddu for this festive season.
This is quick, flavourful ladoo that can be made with 3 main ingredients i.e. rose petals, condensed milk and coconut. Just add cardamom powder, mixed dry fruits, white rose extract for flavour and few drops of rose food colour for a beautiful look.
If you don't have desiccated coconut and condensed milk then no need to worry. You can make this recipe easily with freshly grated coconut, sugar and milk.
RECIPE
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
Rolling time: 5-10 minutes
Total time: 20-25 minutes
Serves: 12-14 ladoos
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 cup desiccated coconut + more for rolling
- 1/2 cup condensed milk (rose flavour)
- 1 tsp ghee
- 2-3 tbsp mixed dryfruits
- 1 tsp white rose extract
- Few drops of rose food colour
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powde
METHOD:
- Heat ghee in a deep pan on medium flame.
- Add desiccated coconut and dry roast them in low flame for just about 2 to 3 minutes, until fragrant. NOTE: Remember the coconut shouldn't turn brown. The key is to constantly stir in this process.
- Add the condensed milk, chopped rose petals, mixed dry fruits, white rose extract, cardamom powder and stir to combine. I made condensed milk at home using rose water, milk and sugar. You can use condensed milk without rose flavour also. You may add few drops of rose food colour at this point.
- Turn off the flame and allow the mixture to cool down.
- Grease your hands with little ghee, take small portion of this mixture to your palm and press down gently to shape them to balls.
- Roll the ladoos in desiccated coconut powder.
- Repeat the same process with the remaining ladoos.
- Delicious rose coconut ladoos are ready to eat. These ladoos remain good for a week in refrigerator.
