Smoked Mint Buttermilk/ Pudina Chaas

 Mint buttermilk recipe is super quick and easy to make, also is different than regular chaas. 

Buttermilk and mint (pudina) are body coolants and so their combination would double the cooling properties in this traditional drink. Mint has many health benefits and is also good for detoxification.

RECIPE 

Prep time: 10 minutes

Cook time: 5 minutes 

Total time: 15 minutes 

Serves: 4

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup curd
  • 10-12 fresh mint leaves 
  • 1 tsp ginger, chopped 
  • 1 green chilli 
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tsp roasted cumin powder 
  • 1/2 tsp black salt
  • Salt to taste
  • 8 ice cubes

FOR SMOKE:

  • 1 coal piece
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 tsp oil

METHOD:

  1. In a blender combine curd, mint leaves, ginger, green chilli, cumin powder, black salt, salt and blend till smooth.
  2. Add 2 cups water and give it a quick blend again.
  3. Transfer the chaas to a large bowl.
  4. Heat the coal, put in a smaller bowl and gently place inside the large bowl, taking care to not let the chaas get into it.
  5. Add cloves in a small bowl and carefully pour oil over hot coal and cover with aluminium foil for 5 minutes. 
  6. Pour smoked pudina chaas in glasses with some ice cubes and garnish it with few mint leaves.
