Italian Corn Chaat/ Salad

Sweet corn chaat is a delectable spiced and tangy snack made with boiled sweet corn, adorned with aroma of spices, filled with mixed dried herbs and fried in butter.
This salad is my favorite recipe!
This dish has so much flavor, light, healthy and super easy to make!

RECIPE:
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes
Total time: 20 minutes
Serves: 2
INGREDIENTS:
BOILING:
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 dry red chilli
  • 4- 5 coriander roots
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1/2 tsp black peppercorns
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Water as needed
CHAAT:
  • 1 cup sweet corn kernels, boiled 
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder 
  • Salt to taste 
  • 1/2 tsp chilli flakes 
  • 1 tsp mixed dried herbs 
  • 1/4 cup cheese, grated 
METHOD:
  1. Boiling corn: Pressure cook corn kernels with enough salt, sugar, dry red chilli, coriander roots, ginger, cinnamon, coriander seeds, solid black pepper and water for 2 whistles or until well cooked. Once cooled,drain the water completely and now they are ready for chaat preparations.
  2. Melt the butter in a pan over a medium flame. Add the corn kernels and mix well. Turn off the flame.
  3. Now add chilli flakes, mixed dried herbs, black pepper, salt. Mix well.
  4. Serve it in a bowl with grated cheese and chilli flakes on top.
  5. Yummy Italian corn salad is ready to eat.
